4SiGHT Supply Chain Group, a leading supply chain consulting, systems integration and engineering firm, announced today that it has successfully implemented a series of supply chain operations and warehouse engineering layout and design services for AbleNet, a Roseville, MN based developer of assistive technology products for persons with disabilities. 4SiGHT provided distribution expertise, engineering and operational excellence development to support the transition to AbleNet’s new corporate headquarters and worldwide distribution center.
In Q1 of 2011, due to increasing customer demand and product line expansion driven by organic growth and acquisition, AbleNet decided to move its distribution operations to a larger facility. To support this transition, AbleNet chose 4SiGHT to engineer the optimal DC layout, select the appropriate material handling and storage media, and determine the ideal order fulfillment methodologies to support AbleNet’s product mix and customer order profiles. The project goals: increase inventory and order accuracy, maximize productivity, and maintain customer service excellence.
Following the successful completion of this phase, AbleNet retained 4SiGHT to provide implementation support for the DC go-live. 4SiGHT worked alongside AbleNet personnel to manage the inventory transition, perform systems integration tasks, and prepare the new facility for operation.
With the new DC on-line and fulfilling customer orders, AbleNet has now turned to 4SiGHT to implement best practices, document new workflows, and train key personnel.
“The 4SiGHT team has been a critical component of our successful transition to the new distribution operations,” says Jen Thalhuber, AbleNet CEO. “They clearly have strong supply chain expertise and experience but they don’t act like the typical consultants. They roll up their sleeves and work right alongside us. They are part of our team,” says Thalhuber.
“The AbleNet project reflects the way we approach our client relationships,” says Frank Camean, President and CEO of 4SiGHT. “We are partners first and consultants second. We analyze our clients’ challenges through their eyes first, then ours. We tailor each engagement to their needs and relentlessly focus on providing value,” says Camean.
