4SiGHT Supply Chain Group, a leading supply chain consulting, engineering, and IT services provider, today announced it has enabled ABC Stores to execute on a new vision and operational enterprise-wide strategy to propel growth and long-term success. Once a small chain of convenience stores, Honolulu-based ABC Stores now serves a retail network of 82 outlets through two distribution centers. The growth in business scope and types of products offered led the company to engage 4SiGHT to develop an enhanced, technology-driven strategy for supplier collaboration and logistics. This centered on the need for stronger collaboration with ABC’s expanding supplier network, many of which are small local entities.
“Our supply chain/enterprise resource project is expected to be the most significant initiative we have ever undertaken,” said Paul Kosasa, CEO, ABC Stores. “4SiGHT provided valuable feedback and guidance during the initial scope and strategy definition phases. Thanks to our partnership with 4SiGHT, we feel much more confident and clearheaded about what we need to do to accomplish our project goals.”
The 4SiGHT team worked closely with ABC to envision an advanced retail supply chain strategy that considered all relevant processes as well as organizational and technology implications. Because ABC anticipates a much higher percentage of its overall retail volume to include sales from groceries in the near future, 4SiGHT worked with ABC to evaluate all aspects of inventory planning and accounting, supplier collaboration, data integration and synchronization, and the use of mobility and edge solutions in its assessment and recommendations. 4SiGHT also worked closely with ABC to identify and vet their implementation partner for the initial financial phase of the project.
“4SiGHT worked closely with the ABC Stores team to identify the optimal vision for its retail supply chain operations and technology,” said Hal Feuchtwanger, Senior Director of Transportation and Strategy, 4SiGHT. “We devised a multi-phased approach to layer ongoing value and new processes into ABC’s operations and build on the success of each phase. In this way, ABC can accomplish key goals such as automating paper-based processes, improving inventory visibility, and collaborating more effectively with its network of hundreds of suppliers so it can deliver a superior customer experience.”
About ABC Stores
ABC Stores has progressed from a ‘mom & pop store’ to one of the most recognizable brands in the Hawaiʻi tourism industry. Through their vision, the founders paved the road for this success with a belief in two fundamental tenets: convenience and service. Today there are ABC Stores on every major island in the State of Hawaiʻi, and the ABC concept has been exported to Guam, Saipan, and Las Vegas. It has also grown to include the fresh and wholesome Island Gourmet Markets, Island Country Markets, Honolua General Store (Kapalua Resort, Maui) and Sueoka Market (Koloa, Kauaʻi).
